But, these words are highly prudent to a country like India that is incredibly rich in culture and heritage† (India Culture, 2009) â€Å"India is an enormously hierarchical society (arguably the most hierarchical in the world) and this, obviously, has an impact on management style† (Indian Management Style, n.d) Most of the Indian organizations consist of people from different parts of the country and the management should address the cultural diversity aspects all the time. Different management styles like conservative, entrepreneurial, professional, bureaucratic, organic, authoritarian, participative, intuitive, familial, altruistic etc are prevailing in Indian organizations (Khandwalla, 2009) I have worked as a production, planning and control executive in one of the topmost tire manufacturing companies in India called Apollo Tires situated in Cochin, Kerala. My organization consists of around 3000 workers divided in three shifts of eight hour duration. My organization was owned by a Punjabi Sikh person and hence some of the top management people were Punjabis. In Indian organizations, getting a promotion can be accomplished in two ways; purely on the basis of merits and on the basis of influence at the top management level. Some people utilizes their influences to get higher positions even though they were not qualified enough. One of the top production managers in my organization was a person from Punjab who has reached this position purely on the basis of his influence rather than academic qualification or expertise. This person often created problems to others because of his lack of ideas and knowledge in the
